Dr. Simone Kimpeler is Head of Competence Center Foresight at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research, ISI, in Karlsruhe. After studying media and communication science, sociology and economic policy at the University of Münster, Westphalia, she received her doctorate in 1999 in Communication Sciences and has been working since February 2000 as an innovation researcher at the Fraunhofer ISI.

She explores the challenges of the socio-technical change and supports policy-actors and companies with methods of strategic foresight as scanning and scouting of trends, future scenarios and roadmapping. Current examples of her work are the BMBF Foresight Prozess and the scientific monitoring of the BMBF Foresight Film Festival 2016.
